It is a device that uses low-intensity currents supplied by electrodes which, by creating new intracellular pathways, act directly on the skin, temporarily increasing tissue permeability. The cell’s double lipid layer undergoes a temporary rearrangement, giving rise to the formation of water channels in the cell membrane, generally referred to as electroporations. These channeling pathways connect (temporarily) the surface of the skin with the underlying dermis ensuring the passage of active substances, even those with a high molecular weight, which would otherwise be retained by the retention mechanisms of the epidermis.
